In our Certified Gaming Compliance Specialist (CGCS) Spotlight, we showcase some of the individuals who have successfully completed the rigorous requirements of our certification program.

Describe your experience working in the gaming industry. What is your current role in the
Casino Gaming Industry?

Currently, I am a member of the Surveillance team at Niagara Casinos. Prior to that, I was a member of
the Security Department, also at Niagara Casinos.

What initially drew you to pursue a career in gaming compliance?

When I accepted the position within Surveillance, I didn’t know that part of the duties & responsibilities
of my function would be Compliance. After training and as time progressed, I learned that compliance is
a major component to my job and that I really enjoyed it. So, in other words, I wasn’t pursuing a career
in compliance but compliance as a career, found me.

What prompted you to pursue the Certified Gaming Compliance Specialist (CGCS) certification?

I fell in love with my job quickly – I also enjoy learning. To further enhance my skills, I did some research
and came across this program. Compliance and policies are always developing and changing. This
course and achieving this credential fulfilled both – I learned so much and I cultivated professional skills
regarding compliance that I use in the workplace today.

What aspects of the certification program do you find particularly valuable or impactful in your
professional practice?

This certification program taught me a lot about Gaming Compliance (hence the name) as well
Investigative Methodology, Fraud, and Ethical Leadership. One thing that I took from this course is to
help me better think for myself when it comes to compliance. That is something I will always carry with
me.

How has obtaining the Certified Gaming Compliance Specialist (CGCS) certification enhanced
your professional capabilities and career prospects?

Earning the CGCS certification has shown me how much I enjoy Compliance part of my career. Having
the CGCS designation has given me further tools to confidently move forward in my professional growth.

In what ways has the Certified Gaming Compliance Specialist (CGCS) certification enabled you to
contribute to ensuring compliance within your organization?

As part of my role within Surveillance, I play an integral role in identifying possible compliance issues
and report them to the appropriate departments for rectification. CGCS has enabled me to confidently
provide ideas and feedback amongst the team. I look forward to continuing with courses to further
expand what I have learned from the CGCS Designation.

How do you incorporate the knowledge and skills gained from the certification into your daily
work?

I incorporate almost every aspect of the certification program into my daily work life. I utilize the
knowledge gained from this program to further enhance my investigative skills, reinforce my knowledge
of compliance and strive to further develop and enhance my continuing education.

What skills or qualities do you believe are essential to be a successful Certified Gaming
Compliance Specialist (CGCS)?

I believe that the essential skills and qualities to be a successful Certified Gaming Compliance Specialist
(CGCS) is the ability to keep an open mind, communicate and have organizational skills.

In your opinion, what are the most pressing compliance concerns currently facing the gaming
industry?

The gaming industry is constantly changing! From brick-and-mortar casinos to iGaming. I believe one of
the most pressing concerns facing the gaming industry today is Anti-Money Laundering (AML)
compliance.

Any final comments/thoughts?
I enjoyed achieving my Certified Gaming Compliance Specialist designation. I have talked about it with
work colleagues, and I know of one who has also completed this designation program. I can’t wait to
see what the next course the Association of Certified Gaming Compliance Specialist releases!
