Best Practices When Implementing a Responsible Gaming Program
Having recently implemented a responsible gaming program in Colorado, Christopher Schroder, the Colorado Division of Gaming Director, talks about their program and advice for implementing a similar program.

Christopher Schroder is the Director of the Colorado Division of Gaming and brings over 20 years of gaming experience to the Division, including the opening of four casinos in multiple jurisdictions. In his current role, Schroder is responsible for managing and directing the activities of the Division including limited gaming, sports betting and fantasy sports contests. Schroder began his managerial career as the Director of Surveillance in 2006 for Peninsula Gaming, LLC in Northwood and Dubuque, Iowa where he was responsible for the opening of two casinos. From 2009 to 2014, he worked for the Isle of Capri Casinos, initially functioning as the Surveillance Manager for their Casinos in Black Hawk, Colorado, and later was directly involved in the opening of their new casino in Farmington, Pennsylvania. In 2014 Schroder served as the Security & Surveillance Manager at Hollywood Gaming / Penn National Gaming, Inc. in Youngstown, Ohio and from 2015 to 2019, he was the Director of Surveillance overseeing three casinos for Caesars Entertainment in Las Vegas. Most recently, Schroder was the Director for the Bureau of Casino Compliance for the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board where he directed the activity of the bureau through planning, developing, coordinating, and monitoring the compliance of the Pennsylvania gaming industry with regulations and controls to ensure the integrity of gaming. Schroder has served on multiple law enforcement collaboration boards, such as Crime Stoppers, in Las Vegas, Nevada, as well as serving as the Vice President of Clear Creek and Gilpin Counties Crime Stoppers. Schroder holds an associate’s degree of Applied Science in Casino Management, and a bachelor’s degree of Applied Science in Project Management, both from the College of Southern Nevada, as well as a master’s degree in Hospitality Management from the University of Alabama. Schroder is also a certified Cyber Intelligence Investigator, Organized Retail Crime Investigator, Professional Criminal Investigator and Human Trafficking Investigator.
